Check Out These 7 Foods You Shouldn’t Eat Raw

Raw foods are very popular right now, and if you like to follow the latest diet trends, you may have already tried them. But do you know which foods taste best when they are eaten raw? Or even, what foods can you eat raw without getting sick?

Before you start eating raw food all the time, there are a few things you might want to know about your new lifestyle.

Here are seven things you shouldn’t eat raw.

1. Fresh fruits and vegetables

Make up a big part of what we eat and drink every day. Whether you want to lose weight or just live a healthy life, vegetables can help you reach your goal in surprising ways. People often make a mistake, though, by eating some vegetables raw instead of cooked.

Some vegetables have natural toxins and sugars that are hard to digest, which can cause gastrointestinal diseases. Even if you wash the food in a cleaner for fruits and vegetables, which gets rid of pesticides and other things that might be on the surface, the food is still not safe to eat raw.

2. Potatoes

Not only do raw potatoes taste bad, but they can also cause digestive problems. The starch in the potatoes that hasn’t been cooked can cause bloating and gas. It’s best to bake, sauté, or cook the potatoes before eating them to avoid any kind of stomach trouble. Also, you should avoid green potatoes because they have a lot of solanine, which is a poison that can make you sick and give you headaches.

3. Cruciferous Vegetables

Cauliflower, Brussels, broccoli, and sprouts, which are all in the cabbage family, should never be eaten raw. These vegetables are hard to digest because they have sugar in them. If you eat these vegetables raw, you might have a few problems with your stomach. When you cook the vegetables, the sugar in them is easier to break down. If you have a problem with your thyroid, you shouldn’t eat raw cruciferous vegetables because they can make thyroid problems worse.

4. Kidney beans

Uncooked or undercooked beans have a lot of the toxin glycoprotein lectin, which makes you feel sick, throw up, and have diarrhea a few hours after eating them. The severity of the symptoms also depends on how many toxins were eaten. There is a lot of lectin in kidney beans, which can lead to the problems listed above. Putting the beans in water for 5 hours can help get rid of the poison.

5. Mushrooms

Even though mushrooms can be eaten raw, it is better to cook them so you can get more nutrients. Mushrooms that have been roasted or grilled have more potassium than ones that have not been cooked. You can make your favorite foods healthier by adding stir-fried mushrooms to pasta or pizza. But make sure you wash the mushrooms properly with a vegetable and fruit cleaner to make sure you’re eating safe vegetables.

6. Eggplant

Solanine, which is found in eggplant, makes it harder for the body to absorb calcium. Solanine poisoning can cause a lot of problems with the brain and stomach, like nausea, dizziness, vomiting, and stomach cramps. Use a vegetable and fruit cleaner to clean eggplant before cooking to make it safe to eat.

7. Franch Beans

Beans are another vegetable that you should never eat raw. Some kinds of beans, like hyacinth or Lima, can be harmful if eaten raw. There are amino acids in beans that are harmful. Before eating the beans, soak them in a vegetable and fruit cleaner to get rid of the poison.
