£400k spent on Meghan Markle’s wardrobe in 2018 – exceeds any other UK royal

With all the regular wow-ing of Meghan Markle’s appearances at high-profile events in 2018, its time to take the stock. She’s not a stranger to the world of head-turning fashion, and so are her choices.

It’s previously been revealed that she’s taken cues from her slick businesswoman character Rachel Zane in Suits, and since becoming a royal she has impressed with traditional and glamorous items.

In 2018, she was the member of the royal family with the most expensive wardrobe totalling a whopping sum of £406,662.55, according to research from UFO No More.

The huge sum does not include the cost of Meghan’s stunning wedding gown, as it has no retail price.

Researchers opted to include the Cartier Reflection Wedding Bracelet and Earrings (which they claim cost around £185,000), even though they are thought to be a gift from Prince Charles.

UFO No More said they included them as it has not confirmed whether they are a present – but even discounting them Meghan would still be in the lead.

The Duchess splashed out almost six times times as much as her sister-in-law Kate, whose wardrobe totalled £68,334.23.

The findings put Meghan £300,000 ($380,334.30) ahead of her closest contender, Denmark’s Crown Princess Mary.

Kensington Palace declined to comment on the revelation when contacted by Mirror Online, but clarified that Meghan’s wardrobe is “privately funded”.

Meghan Markle’s net worth was previously estimated at £3.5million, so she’s certainly able to fund her glamorous clothes.

Christmas Look

Researchers from the fashion blog – which stands for Unidentified Fashion Objects – examined every item debuted by royals in Europe, by totalling each piece worn in public and painstakingly calculated the total cost.

“Out of 1,663 new pieces debuted this year by these ladies – only 34 of these pieces did we estimate a price. We mention this in an effort to convey the most transparent and accurate view of the costs,” researchers write on the UFO No More website.
